A Celebration of Giving

Since 1986, November 15th has been nationally recognized as National Philanthropy Day (NPD). According to the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), the day “provides an opportunity to reflect on the meaning of giving and all that it has made possible. NPD celebrates the endless daily contributions individuals and organizations across the world make to countless causes and missions.”

Philanthropy is…

“Thousands and thousands of small acts of kindness.” – Ken Mayhew, AFP Chair, Canada

“It’s a passion for making change.” – Lori Woehrle, President, AFP DC, Washington DC

“It’s the gift of resources to make an impact in the world.” – Missy Ryan Penland, Senior Associate VP, Clemson University

Philanthropy is simply the act of giving. National Philanthropy Day celebrates the generosity of individuals and organizations. This day incorporates gifts of time, talent, and treasure.

How can you celebrate National Philanthropy Day?

  • Give a Financial Gift: CASA is a community-supported organization. 100 percent of its budget is raised through grants, special events, and donations from individuals and organizations. From now until December 31st, your gift will be matched $1 for $1 up to $10,000. As little as $10 goes a long way. Give now: www.casarr.org/donate-now

  • Give In-Kind: CASA supports hundreds of vulnerable children annually through its Children’s Needs program. We collect new back-to-school supplies, holiday gifts, toiletries, household goods, furniture, clothing, grocery gift cards, and more, throughout the year.

Adopt a Wishlist: Currently, CASA received 125 wish lists from the most vulnerable kids in our community. These wish lists not only include a wish for toys, but necessities. Shopping for a child or sibling group’s list is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. Email megan@casarr.org or shop our Amazon Wish List. Drop off unwrapped gifts before or by Friday, December 2.

  • Give Your Time: CASA fulfills its mission through the dedication and commitment of its volunteers. Since January, over 200 volunteers have been a friend, mentor, and advocate for 546 abused/neglected children. These volunteers spend 1-4 hours a week checking-in on children, working with the Family Court system, and advocating for services to overcome trauma. Learn how you can change a child’s story by becoming a CASA at our monthly virtual information session every 1st & 3rd Wednesday. www.casarr.org/casa101

  • Give Your Talent: CASA has non-advocate opportunities. We need volunteers who would like to work our annual mailings, participate in a committee, or become a board member. CASA has the following committees:

    1. Development: The committee helps brainstorm, plan, and implement fundraising events.

    2. Outreach: The committee staffs the CASA table at community events and assists with reaching out to local businesses, organizations, and faith communities.

For non-advocate opportunities, email info@casarr.org.
