Volunteer Spotlight: Cong Li – One Child at a Time

Meet Cong Li, a dedicated Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in the River Region since 2019.
Meet Cong Li, a dedicated Court Appointed Special Advocate for children in the River Region since 2019.

When Cong Li first signed up to become a CASA volunteer, she was going through a challenging time in her own life. What she found in the process was not only a way to give back—but a renewed sense of purpose and connection.

“I chose to become a CASA during a time when I was struggling and seeking to experience more in life,” Cong shares. “It was definitely a positive outcome for me, and I am so glad I did.”

As a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Cong is a consistent, caring presence in the life of a child who has experienced abuse or neglect. She speaks up for their best interests in court and ensures they are safe, supported, and seen. But for Cong, the role has also brought deep personal meaning.

“My favorite thing about being a CASA is working with people who really care and are willing to offer what they have—whether they are my supervisors, GALs, social workers, host moms, or other CASA volunteers,” she says. “They care about the children on an individual basis. They care about making situations better, and I feel good just being around them.”

There’s one moment in particular that always brings her joy: school visits.

“I love it whenever my CASA children run to me with smiles on their faces,” Cong says. “Those small moments mean everything.”

Her motivation to keep going is simple—and profound.

“I want to help,” she says. “It’s like the story of the starfish washed up on the shore. There are too many for me to help them all, but if I can help one, it matters to that one fish.”

Such a heartwarming spotlight celebrating someone making a real difference for children. Small actions truly change lives. Confidence and kindness go hand in hand, just like bold styles such as Tyler the Creator Igor Suit. Loved reading this inspiring dedication!
