Fall Fun, Lasting Memories: Making Special Moments Possible for Our CASA Kids

Every child deserves the chance to just be a kid.
Whether it’s exploring the Kentucky State Fair, navigating a corn maze, or trick-or-treating at the zoo, childhood should be full of joy, discovery, and fun. At CASA of the River Region, we love helping the children we serve experience those special moments. Thanks to some incredible community partners and generous supporters, this fall was full of them!
A Day of Fun at the Kentucky State Fair
Thanks to funds made available through Agricultural Commissioner Jonathan Shell’s annual Farm to Fork Benefit Dinner, held at the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center on the eve of the Kentucky State Fair, CASA of the River Region received funding to provide agricultural tourism experiences for the children we serve.
Those funds helped 69 children attend the Kentucky State Fair alongside their chaperones, where they explored livestock exhibits, admired creative arts, and enjoyed rides, games, and all the excitement the fair has to offer. It was a wonderful opportunity for our kids to experience the sights, sounds, and traditions of this beloved Kentucky event!
Fall Adventures at Gallrein Farms
The fun continued at Gallrein Farms in Shelbyville! Additional Farm to Fork funding helped us offer activity wristbands so our children could enjoy the farm’s fall festival attractions, including the pumpkin patch, hayrides, corn maze, pedal carts, ropes course, carousel, and more.
When we realized our budget would limit the number of children we could include, the generous team at Gallrein Farms stepped up and donated additional activity wristbands. Because of their kindness, 67 children got to enjoy a day of fall fun and adventure!
We are so grateful to Gallrein Farms for helping make this experience possible for even more of our CASA kids.
A Spooktacular Night at Boo at the Zoo
Another special opportunity came through our wonderful partners at Kosair for Kids, who provided tickets for 30 CASA children to attend Boo at the Zoo at the Louisville Zoo during Kosair for Kids Night!
Kosair for Kids is a vital partner in the work we do at CASA of the River Region. Through grant support, event sponsorships, and even office space provided on their campus, Kosair for Kids helps strengthen our mission in so many ways.
Our kids are Kosair kids, too! Being able to offer them the chance to participate in this special trick-or-treat event gave them an opportunity to celebrate the season, enjoy a little Halloween magic, and make memories with their families and chaperones.
It Takes a Community to Make a Difference
These experiences remind us of the importance of opportunities for fun, exploration, and connection.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in the Farm to Fork Benefit Dinner, the Kentucky CASA Network for helping administer Farm to Fork funds to local CASA programs, Gallrein Farms, and Kosair for Kids. Your generosity and partnership help create meaningful experiences for the children and families we serve.
At CASA of the River Region, we know that making a difference takes more than one person. It takes a community of people who believe every child deserves to feel safe, supported, valued, and cared for.
