This fall, a committed group of community members chose to stand up for children involved in the child welfare system by becoming CASA Volunteer Advocates. Through comprehensive training led by Training Manager Kayla Casey, these individuals are preparing to serve as steady, informed voices for children navigating complex and often uncertain circumstances.
We are proud to welcome our newest CASA Volunteer Advocates: Darryl Shannon, Jennifer Melcher, Tammy Weird, Mark Weird, Euphrasia Ita, Camila Acevedo, Missy Cochran, Dale Warren, Antasia Phillips, Bev Sorgi, Claudette Russell, Sonja Therrian, Jessica Cattell, Teja Hill, Linda DuFour, Katie Culver, and James Watson.
There has never been a more meaningful time to get involved. In 2025, CASA of the River Region has served more than 500 children—and with continued community support, we can reach the nearly 200 more who are still waiting to be matched with a caring, consistent advocate. Each new volunteer and each act of generosity brings us closer to ensuring every child has a voice and a brighter path forward.
As we look ahead to 2026, CASA is launching streamlined training options that maintain the same high-quality, impactful content while offering greater flexibility for today’s busy lifestyles. If you have ever considered becoming a CASA volunteer, now is the perfect time to learn more and apply at www.casarr.org/volunteer.
You can also help move this important work forward by making a year-end gift to support CASA’s advocacy efforts. Contributions made by December 31 strengthen our ability to recruit, train, and support volunteers—and may offer valuable tax benefits. To help expand hope and opportunity for children in our community before the end of the year, visit www.casarr.org/donate-now.
