The end of summer is the time of year when many parents prepare for their child's first day back at school. Children are already anxious anticipating the start of the new school year, especially those kids who are dealing with the trauma of abuse/neglect, living in a foster home or multiple placements and/or starting at a new school. You can help ease their anxiety by providing a new backpack with school supplies to start their school year off right. Drop off deadline: Last Friday in July.
At CASA, Inc., we accept a variety of donations. No matter how you give, your generous contribution will help change the lives of abused and neglected children in our community. CASA has two seasonal donation drives--Back to School and Holiday Sponsor. Year round donations include, but are not limited to:
Personal Care Items (especially for teens)
Children & Teen Books (NEW)
Baby Items: Diapers, pull-ups, wipes
Travel Containers: Cosmetic bags, overnight bags, etc.
Tax deductible donations can be made at any time during the year. Federal Tax ID # 61-1066568.
BACK TO SCHOOL
CASA created the Holiday Sponsorship program to ensure that our children positively experience the holiday season despite their current struggles. Our children give “wish lists” to their CASA volunteer. CASA provides donors with a child/family profile, gift ideas, name, age, gender, sizes and some necessary items the family may need. Holiday sponsors drop off gifts at the main office, UNWRAPPED and labeled with the first name and age of the child.
Drop off is scheduled the first Friday of December. Due to confidentiality concerns, all gifts are to be dropped off at the main office. CASA volunteers will distribute to children. Drop off deadline: First Friday in December.
Through the generosity of individual donors and businesses, 162 children were sponsored in December 2017. Any remaining funds are restricted to children’s needs and emergencies as they arise throughout the year. If you would like to sponsor a child, or make a contribution to this program, please contact Program Director Shari Christoff (Shari@casarr.org) for details. $100 minimum donation requested.
Many of our CASA kids have to abruptly leave their homes or are often moved from different foster homes or facilities. Because of this, CASA is collecting personal care items to provide to kids who may not have been able to pack or are without such items. If you are interested in donating personal care items, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
