The gift of being a CASA volunteer.
“If our hopes of building a better and safer world are to become more than wishful thinking, we will need the engagement of volunteers more than ever.” — Kofi Annan
December is marked by holidays and traditions such as Kwanzaa, Hannukah and Christmas that highlight the gift of giving including volunteering. CASA volunteers are obviously familiar with the giving of themselves through volunteering. According to the Corporation for National and Community Services (www.nationalservice.gov), 978,627 volunteers in Kentucky contribute 96.6 million hours of service. In Jefferson County and the surrounding area, 234,225 volunteers contributed 39.4 million hours of service. We know volunteering is more than a statistic.
The gift of being a CASA volunteer is definitely two-fold. Firstly, CASA of the River Region is grateful for the gift of your service. Not only are volunteers the foundation of CASA of the River Region, volunteers are the unexpected gift to many abused and neglected children across our service region. The holidays are a joyful time of reunions and gift-giving for many families, however, the holidays can be challenging for many of our children and their guardians. You are the gift for so many CASA kids need today!
